more sketches comin up

Unfortunately i had not enough time to put some new posts here although my new sketches were done last week. Well, that's my problem and lets get straight to the point.

Apperently, my new sketches were some kind of fusion type that was designed by me by mixing my so called 'retro styled' designs and Lynn's fresh ideas as li wen said so. therefore i have decided to mix my style into lynn's two ideas which are something to do with a unicorn and a teddy bear. However, it's quite disappointing that my teddy bear didn really turn out to be truly a retro since i more likely focused on its cuteness.


Anyways, here are my sketches.

So yes. as can be seen, they both have afros and haha.. i find both of them quite cute. Just to imagine that these designs repeating all over a wall, they are both satisfying. However, we're still not quite there yet, since we are going to do our final design, and it will be posted soon.

Okay..All that is my sketches and the design all is designed according to the sentences. I used the words in the mind-map that we did together to form it.

Retro wallpaper

Seem like Sean the “hard worker” had posted and explained our wallpaper mind map already, so nothing left for me and Eunice to write =(. I hope that liwen will not give us lower mark just because of that or I shall kill the “hard worker”=p

Okay, so this is my retro wallpaper design sketches and my group decided to draw at least three sketches so we have more choices. This picture above is my sketches, as you can see the first one is the unicorn with afro and ribbon wearing thick eyelashes and necklace. The second one is teddy bear with big sunglasses holding umbrella on the left hand side and ice cream on the right hand side. The last one is actually a monkey, which is quite hard for everyone to recognize. Monkey with afro and big heart shaped sunglasses wearing bikini and peace necklace.

All right, a very short update for tonight, since I am very tired now and “Somebody” eyes keep closing as well, will update more often.

Sean's retro sTyle wallpaper designs

Yes finally back home and seems like only i have uploaded posts in this blog. This clearly explains that the rest of people that you can see on your right that is not 'sean' are very very lazy hahaha


ok let's get straight to the point. As for me, it was more important to get a clear idea of what retro styles are. I have researched tons of informations among both english and korean websites, and studied a lot on the styles. But this turned out to have a lack on my idea-wise part as li wen said my ideas weren't fresh although the styles were more into retro compared to my other group members.



for you to understand better, here are my sketches.






As can be seen, i have drawn out 3 different sketches with different ideas. To talk about the very first one on the top left which is supposed to be 'a car rushing out from a clock's big mouth'. Yes for sure this is totally a non sense that can hardly be understood by anyone. However, to me, this sentence has a deeper meaning that it seems. Basically, i wanted to enhance the time difference between the past and the present, by using the clock. An old car coming out from the clock's big mouth was to illustrate a time travel from the past to the present while also bringing its style. I'm sorry if it wasn't as deep as you might have expected lol.

Moving onto my second sketch, it's theme is 'an old black man wearing big sunglasses with an afro chewing gum'. Such a long theme here haha. But despite its long long sentence, the design itself turned out to be quite simple and common. Therefore i dont really like this design, however it can be used to modify into better ones.

Lastly, a messy piece with big stars floating in the air and some weird sunglasses right in the middle. 'a guard wearing big sunglasses and starts flying around him', the title of this piece basically explains all as a design. i have not used any real human figure to actually create the 'guard' but using a cap that guards usually wear is truly good enough to remind people of one. Again, these were all possible because my studies on retro styles helped me a lot to apply them into my designs.

It was for me, quite interesting to design all these as i kept thinkin of my own dream wall paper that could be tremendously unique that no one else can have which also motivated me a lot in a sense that i could research and think more. But yes, i do think they could be improved haha..
Hmm.. well till here, these were my very first designs, and very soon, the modified ones will be coming up. thanks for reading :)

Retro MANIA

Wow seems like im the first one to post here. What is everyone doing? Guess i am the so called 'hard worker' as what li wen said haha. Well then i will begin with all these. To talk about our very first project, which is a wall paper, we have formed a group of 3, which are you can see on your right side, Lynn, Eunice and me. The theme is basically 'retro mania' meaning those oldies that are out of trend that we can find these days. Having a wall paper that has retro designs repeating again and again, is in my opinion, so special that i want to thank the one academy for letting me know there is such an idea that i can use in the future. This is because I always thought wall papers are chosen by my mom -_-;

Well as our very first assignment, we had to draw out this mind map that we can at the end link up words to another, to make a sentense(which are basically our ideas for our designs), that totally does not make sense such as.. An old man with an afro wearing big sunglasses chewing gum (and surprisingly, i really used this as one of my ideas :S).

Very special thanks to Lynn and Eunice who did most of the job when i was just giving ideas. Because they did such a hard job, i think ours is the prettiest and the best among the class itself. hopefully they dont get mad after reading this though :P
